Between well-known peaks such as Rüfikopf, Trittkopf, Hasenfluh, Omeshorn and Kriegerhorn is the skiing region of Lech, Oberlech and Zürs. The villages are connected to one another with a legendary ski circuit – the world-famous Weißer Ring (White Ring). In the region of Austria with the highest snowfall, countless opportunities for winter sports are waiting, both on the wide slopes and in lofty Arlberg powder-snow regions. And if you want to go further – Lech, Oberlech and Zürs are in the centre of Ski Arlberg and connected by the Flexenbahn gondola with St. Anton, St. Christoph and Stuben as well as with Warth-Schröcken via the Auenfeldjet lift. Stunning variety and unlimited skiing!

LechStreetRiverChurch.jpg      lech3One other key reason for Lech has astounding snow record. With its own micro-climate, it gets more snow than almost anywhere else in Austria and can boast one of the best snow reliability records in the Alps.
Lech is a pretty and compact village where  most of the action takes place around the main street which runs alongside the river Lech and is crossed by several bridges. Cars are really unnecessary here and visitors are strongly discouraged from using them during their stay. Two hundred meters above Lech itself is the satellite of Oberlech. This is a car-free area which comprises a cluster of large four-star hotels. It is reached by a cable car from Lech, which runs till 1am.

Skiing in Austria’s largest contiguous ski area

If you are skiing or snowboarding, you can explore one of the most fascinating and generous ski areas in the Alps. Snow-covered slopes and perfectly groomed slopes. The unmistakable panoramic location of Lech am Arlberg will inspire you.

A ski resort with excellent facilities and 305 kilometers of adventurous ski slopes makes skiers’ hearts beat faster and guarantees a relaxed stanton10and varied skiing holiday in the heart of the Arlberg.

THE WHITE RING is  a unique ski circuit that connects Lech, Zürs, Zug and Oberlech with six cable cars and 23 KM of slopes.

Try the LANGE ZUG – One of the steepest groomed ski routes in the world!

On the Rüfikopf in Lech, the Lange Zug offers skiers a special challenge that does not forgive any mistakes! The Lange Zug is an extreme ski route with a total length of 4.7km, which is groomed daily and has a maximum gradient of 80% in the steepest part.

Ski Arlberg provides an unparalleled skiing experience with a total of 88 cable cars and lifts, 305 kilometres of ski runs and 200 kilometres of high Alpine deeplech10powder snow runs. In Lech Zürs am Arlberg nothing stands in the way of true enjoyment on the pistes, and there are numerous rustic huts and Alpine refuges to keep hunger at bay. The free local and ski buses provide a convenient means of transport.

Fun things to do in Lech am Arlberg

Arlberg and skiing two terms that are inseparable. But there is more. A lot more! For those of you who would like to relax and lean back, and for the wild ones!

Skiing is a big part of the Arlberg identity. However, there is so much more to do! Some of you just can’t get enough of skiing (and we do understand that), but when the sun sets and the chair lifts close you could give cross-country skiing a try. Lech offers you about 30km cross-country skiing track. Take a deep breath when you walk through our winter wonderland. The paths take you through snowy woods, along beautiful ice-cold rivers all the way to little huts that offer you Austrian specialties. Fun for young and older is tobogganing is the right thing to do- you are going to laugh until your stomach hurts. A horse carriage ride lets winter fairy tales come true!

For all those with adrenaline-mountain-maniacs needs ice climbing, tandem paragliding, freeriding, ski touring, winter via farrata and much more will be the right thing to do!

Don’t feel like skiing?

There are all kinds of alternatives available in Lech
TOBOGGAN RUN – Bergbahn Oberlech is a 1,2 km, light up toboggan run through the forest from Oberlech to Lech! Daily from 9:00 to 22:00 o’clock. Sledges are rentable at the Bergbahn. The Zürs sledging hill is the ideal place for families with small children.

ICE SKATING/ICE RING – Ice ring at the Hotel Jagdhaus Monzabon – Europe’s one and only hotel ice rink.

HORSE-DRAWN SLEIGH RIDE – Whether by day or at night, a horse-drawn sleigh ride is always a highlight during a winter holiday. Pick-up point: covered bridge, Lech.

WINTER HIKES/SNOWSHOE HIKING– There is a well-marked network of approx. 40 km of trails in Lech and the surrounding area.

Lech Aprés Ski

Once the ski slopes close. Lech’s main street turns in to one long après ski bar, with pavement cafes running in to one another in places and Jagatee (tea spiked with rum) the traditional early evening drink.
