Situated at the head of the Stubai Valley, the Stubai Glacier is the largest ski area in the Innsbruck area. It is also one of the most popular all-year ski destinations in Europe. Winter sees over 150 km of pistes aimed directly to the beginner-intermediate. But even though only a handful of runs at Stubai Glacier are rated expert, the terrain does offer excellent off-piste opportunities. Stubai is also highly rated by Snowboarders.

7 reasons to join the Stubai trip…

Getting a head start… skiing and boarding before winter truly awakes – Stubai is known for offering some of the best conditions during October and November. At the start of November, it is already possible to ski down to the Middle station Fernau at 2300m.

Sit back and watch the show – Stubai’s freestyle park, with kickers sculpted to perfection, is a gathering place for the best freestyle skiers and boarders.

Gourmet at altitudefine-dining at an altitude of nearly 3000m, the Schaufelspitz serves Austrian classics done to the highest standard using regional ingredients, a solid wine list, and an expansive sun terrace.

The days are getting short, but at this time of the year it is still possibly to feel the warmth of the sun’s rays.

I can see my house from here! – Not quite, but the views are incredible. A picture tells a thousand words, so for the sake of brevity…

There aren’t many views that can beat the one from the very top of the Stubai Glacier.

When it comes to reliable snow cover…Stubai Glacier skiing is as guaranteed as it gets.

Ski/Town Bus

No stress on the road, no long walks from the parking lot! During your winter holidays in the Stubaital you can use the free ski buses that directly take you into one of the four skiing areas.
Free use of Public Transports between Schoenberg and Mutterberg for passengers with winter sports equipment / clothing / ski passes and ski-cards of the region.
For trips to Innsbruck please pay from point of entry.

Stubai Aprés Ski – Après ski in Stubai begins at the gondola base in the Wilde Grub’n and Schirmbar Mutterberg (the umbrella bar) further down past the bus stop, and usually ends at the bars and clubs in the center of Neustift or Fulpmes.

Stubaital Nightlife – The Rumpl Disco in the center of Neustift is the main club. The après-ski bus runs from 7:00 p.m. and 2 a.m. between Kampl and Mutterberg, so no worry of being Cinderall’ed in your ski boots at midnight.

Fulpmes has a table dancing bar, the Kratzbaum, which looks all very stylish in its quaint old building right in the entrance to the village. Although this shouldn’t be surprising in Austria any more, since such establishments are becoming pretty commonplace, it’s not quite what you might expect in a small traditional village like Fulpmes.

Don’t feel like skiing?

There are all kinds of alternatives available in Stubai:

Winter Hiking – There is a well-marked winter hiking trail from the Gamsgarten mountain station to the TOP OF TYROL at 3,210 m., covers approx. 600m of altitude difference. Walking Time: 1.5 hrs

Geocaching – Geocaching is the new outdoor trend that combines an exciting treasure hunt with awesome outdoor experiences. The participants of this game are called geocachers. They hide little treasures in chests, plastic containers, bottles etc. all over the world. Some of these treasures, also referred to as caches, are also hidden on the Stubai Glacier.

We are staying at Hotel Happy Stubai

The Happy Stubai hotel feature an all-year heated outdoor swimming pool and a modern spa area.

All rooms at the Happy Stubai have a balcony offering panoramic views of Tyrol’s mountains and come equipped with a cable TV. Spa facilities include a sauna, a steam bath, a solarium, a Kneipp pool and an inviting relaxation area offering views over the valley.

Gourmet cuisine prepared from locally sourced organic ingredients and a wide range of quality wines can be enjoyed in the restaurant.

There is also a playground and a playroom for kids at the Happy Stubai.

Within a 20-minute ride on the free ski bus you can reach the Stubai Glacier ski area, which also includes cross-country trails.

The Elfer, Serles and Schlick 2000 ski areas, as well a 6.2 mi toboggan run, are close-by as well. The ski bus stops right outside the Happy Stubai and ski passes are sold at the reception.
